A Flying visit to Support a Trailwalker Team

After a call from a mate in need of help, I found myself heading to Newcastle for four days as a Volunteer Support Crew for for an “Oxfam Trailwalker – Sydney” Team. I had done support for a Melbourne team the last couple of years, but being in a strange town and unfamiliar location, I was not quite sure what to expect.

The course was an absolute brute, although the same 100km distance as Melbourne, the Terrain included steep hills, rock hopping and even river crossings. Far more needs to be carried by the walkers during each stage and far more prep during training as well. Training the actual trail is a must on this course.

A massive congrats must go to all 4 walkers – Warren, Annie, Caden and especially Justin who on his 3rd attempt has finally made it over the finish line.

I may even put this one on my to-do list. 🙂
