Today was a major disappointment to say the least. One of the first things I put on my list when I added a week before the Coast to Coast walk and a visit to Scotland was to hike to the top of Ben Nevis, the UK’s Highest peak. While not as High as Mount Bogong or Kosci, it is still quite a challenge with around 1300m of elevation gain in about 8Km.
The disappointing part was not the weather, that was perfect, it was that I woke with a badly swollen right foot and there was no way I could do 16Km on the flat, let alone to the top of the mountain. So it was to be a day of driving and feeling sorry for myself .
I managed after a morning pretty much off my feet to be able to go for a bit of a walk near Carron Valley Reservoir which was quite nice.
