Coast to Coast UK 2019 – Day 7

Bampton Grange to Orton (21.2km)

Firstly I must say I have neglected to introduce my hiking companions. I am hiking in a group of 5, My Brother Richard, my sister-in-law Karen, One of my Trivia teammates Olga and a friend of Olga’s, Tessa.

Today was another 20km day, this time, mainly through farmland and following some impressive stone walls. After about 5Km, we arrived at Shap Abbey, an old, now in ruins, but still very impressive building.

About another 2km down the road, we hit the town of Shap, a smallish town but had a well supplied general store for us to resupply including lunch for today. We then continued hiking through fields, following walls all the way to Orton and the George Hotel, out accommodation and dinner for tonight.
