Day 1, started off strong, leaving Taylor’s Crossing at 6.15am but after doing the hard yards down into morass creek and back up the other side, we eventually crossed Benambra Corryong road and began the amble up the hill. It was here I started to hold up proceedings. I had been sipping water at a constant rate in an attempt to stay hydrated on this 30+ degree day. Not long after crossing the road, I was feeling not too good and started to throw up the water I had been drinking.
We stopped for about an hour to rest (and nap) but this was of no help. So we made the difficult decision to bail, back to the road we went, headed for a reliable water source 1km away. It was along the way we bumped into Tony and his 4WD posse from the central highlands who offered us a lift to wherever we needed to go. The final stop was Omeo where we stayed at the caravan park for the night in the hope that I would get better.
